I want to heal but somebody up up there doesn’t like me

Somebody up there likes me (movie with Paul Newman)

Recent prayer for healing I heard from a churchman:

Lord we pray that you will restore S… so that there is no longer a hint of the illness. We know that you can do this, we know that you want to do this.”

In most prayers for healing, the person is not healed. So, although Christians, generally, believe that God can heal, please don’t say in your prayer over someone that he wants to heal, because this implies that when he doesn’t heal, there is some rogue super being pulling the strings.

      • Here are pertinent verses:

        Luke 9:1-2

        Chapter 9

        Luke 9
1 Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. 2 And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.

Luke 9:1 applies to the twelve disciples.

Ah, one may retort, what about this?

        Mark 16:17-18
And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Two things: 1. most believers, since the time of Jesus, who lay hands on the sick obviously do not have this gift.
        2. These verses are considered to be a late addition (a variant) to the original gospel of Mark.
